Step One: Google. Write down the search terms(s) you are using.
Step Two: Library Catalog: Try the same term(s) as a Subject Search in the library catalog. Look for new terms to use in the next step.
Step Three: Academic Search Complete: Using the search terms from Step Two, do a Subject Search in ASC.
Step Four: Brainstorm: Continue using the searching steps and brainstorming until you have a topic.
"Research is always the hardest part of writing a paper for me. Luckily, the words come easily for me, it's just finding the material to back it up that gives me problems."
Academic Search Complete is UT’s largest scholarly, multi-subject article database.
Using the terms from your three searches, evaluate possible topics. For more ideas, go back to Step One and start again using the ideas from the first three searches. Continue using the searching steps and brainstorming until you have a topic.
