Mulford Health Science Library information about quality Instruction in information-seeking skills and the use of information resources for faculty, staff and students.

PubMed is a version of MEDLINE provided by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Center for Biotechnology Information. Originally designed to link genetic sequence data to the published literature, it is now used by many people to search MEDLINE, plus other data sets such as newly published articles not yet indexed in MEDLINE. For more information about PubMed, see the NLM PubMed Fact Sheet.

The NLM Gateway is an interface that allows multi-resource searching of NLM information resources. Search results are grouped by type of resource (Journals, Books/Serials/Audiovisuals, Meeting Abstracts, Databanks, and Consumer Health). For more information about the Gateway, see the Nov-Dec 2000 article from the NLM Technical Bulletin.

To Access PubMed or the Gateway

To search PubMed, go to the Library's home page and click on the PubMed@UT link; or go directly to PubMed. To search the NLM Gateway, go directly to NLM. Access to PubMed and the NLM Gateway is free to anyone on the Internet, though access to many of the full text materials through these resources is restricted to those who are on campus or who are registered with the Mulford Library.
