Organ Procurement and Transplantation: Information for the Scholarly Project

Created for students in the Transplantation and Donation Sciences program (both on-campus and online programs)

Welcome!

This page is for students, faculty, and staff at the University of Toledo. Most of the links on this page are restricted to UToledo affiliates. If you are affiliated with another institution (such as a university, college, or hospital), contact your librarian. You may have access to these resources through your institution library.

Identifying Relevant Articles

To find relevant articles on your scholarly project topic, you need to start by figuring out what you need. Taking time to do this at the start will save you time in the long run. See our LibGuide on Assessing an Information Need.

Generally, for your project, you will search these databases:

Once you've identified your references, you will need to find them. Within most of the databases above (PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, and Web of Science), there will be an icon for FindIt@UT. That will be your first stop. If the full text of the article is not available that way, follow instructions on the Articles LibGuide.

If a journal website asks you for your credit card number, the answer is NO. The UToledo Libraries' Interlibrary Services (also referred to as Interlibrary Loan) office can get a copy of the needed article at no cost to you. For more information about Interlibrary Services and ILLiad (our interlibrary loan platform), see the Interlibrary Loan LibGuide.

Citing and Formatting References in the Scholarly Project

At UToledo, we have access to EndNote, a software package you can use to manage your references and PDF files. More importantly, you can use EndNote within MS Word (installed software; EndNote does not work with Word 365 yet) to cite and format your references.

For more information, check our EndNote LibGuide.
