IPUMS National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS)
IPUMS (Integrated Public Use Microdata Series) provides census and survey data from around the world integrated across time and space. IPUMS integration and documentation makes it easy to study change, conduct comparative research, merge information across data types, and analyze individuals within family and community context. Data and services are available free of charge. IPUMS is a part of the Minnesota Population Center at the University of Minnesota and is directed by Regents Professor Steven Ruggles.
A profile includes tables that provide various demographic, social, economic, and housing characteristics for the U.S., regions, divisions, states, counties, minor civil divisions in selected states, places, metropolitan areas, American Indian and Alaska Native areas, Hawaiian home lands and congressional districts.
