IPUMS National Historical Geographic Information System (NHGIS)

IPUMS (Integrated Public Use Microdata Series) provides census and survey data from around the world integrated across time and space. IPUMS integration and documentation makes it easy to study change, conduct comparative research, merge information across data types, and analyze individuals within family and community context. Data and services are available free of charge.  IPUMS is a part of the Minnesota Population Center at the University of Minnesota and is directed by Regents Professor Steven Ruggles.

    Official Census Bureau tool to find statistics previously known as American FactFinder. Use "Fact Sheet" for basic tables for cities, counties, and states (tip - select "show more"), or "Data Sets" for advanced features.
  • Census 2000 Demographic Profiles 

A profile includes tables that provide various demographic, social, economic, and housing characteristics for the U.S., regions, divisions, states, counties, minor civil divisions in selected states, places, metropolitan areas, American Indian and Alaska Native areas, Hawaiian home lands and congressional districts.

  • Missouri Census Data Center - Circular Area Profiles
    User friendly interface to find census data using a point location (latitude and longitude) and radius "values" (i.e., miles) for major census statistics on population, age, race, household income, education, etc.
  • State and County QuickFacts
    QuickFacts provides statistics for all states and counties, and for cities and towns with a population of 5,000 or more.
