Before using CAS SciFindern, you must first register for an account.
Tips for creating an account:
- Upper & Lower Case
- Numbers
- Non-alphanumeric characters
Once you have entered your information, you will be e-mailed a confirmation which you must respond to within 48 hours to complete your registration.
If you have forgotten your username or password, you can use your e-mail address to recover it.
In order to use CAS SciFindern, you must agree to the CAS's Terms of Use for Academic Users (summarized):
1) You are a current faculty, staff member, or registered student of the University.
2) You will use SciFinder only for University-related or publicly funded research intended for publication, NOT commercial or contract research.
3) You will not store more than 5,000 records, and won't distrubute records to others.

The most common problems logging in to CAS SciFindern are because:
You are not using the off-campus proxy. If you get a message that you are "Not authorized from this IP address", you need to use the link: https://go.openathens.net/redirector/utoledo.edu?url=https%3A%2F%2Fscifinder-n.cas.org%2F
Wrong Username or Password. If you cannot remember your username or password, you can retrieve it using your e-mail address and the answer to your security question at the 'Forgot Username or Password?' link on the Login screen.
SciFindern users have two options for structure drawing: ChemDoodle and CASDraw.
Meeting the basic browser and operating systems requirements outlined above, and having JavaScript and cookies enabled are sufficient to use these editors. A Java plug-in is not required.
Note: iOS 10.3 with iCloud enabled is required for drawing package file import/export.
