University of Toledo Digital Repository (UTDR)

This repository is a service of The University of Toledo Libraries.

Institutional Repositories (IRs) bring together all of a university's research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research. Research, scholarly output and other information of interest to researchers has been selected and deposited by university departments and centers to preserve and provide access to that research.

IRs are an excellent vehicle for:

• Disseminating and sharing working papers
• Post- and pre-print copies of published articles and conference papers
• Presentations
• Honors and master's theses and doctoral dissertations
• Scholarly projects/capstone projects
• Data curation
• Institutional records in born-digital formats
• Archived journals
• Other works not published elsewhere
• Digital collections selected for specific courses
• Collaboration

• Your repository can save you time. You deposit your work once and can pull them out in different formats*
• You can create reference lists for reviews you are writing or lists of your publications to update your CV*
• Having your work openly available in a repository may cut down or even end having to respond to email requests for copies of your articles*
• Repositories are indexed by Google, Google Scholar, Yahoo! and other web search engines, so your work can be more easily found during an online search*
• The repository’s usage statistics service can show the number of hits and downloads for the whole repository each week or month for your work*
• Your work has greater visibility through people from all over the world who do not have access to journals*
• Having work Open Access demonstrably increases citations for individuals’ work*
• Showcasing undergraduate work in an institutional repository can create opportunities for student authors, be used to improve and assess the student’s work, teach information literacy and writing skills, and facilitate cross-departmental assessment**
