PsycINFO Step-By-Step Keyword Searching

This help sheet will walk you through a sample keyword search in the database APA Psycinfo. Our topic: We are looking for research articles on how those who have been involved in major car accidents cope with anxiety. 

1) From the library’s homepage (http://hsc.utoledo.edu/lib/index.html), go to the All Databases link in the tabbed box (http://utmost.cl.utoledo.edu/search/y

 

 

2) Under the Psychology heading in the By Subject list, click on the APA PsycInfo link. An alternative is to use the Quick Link to APA PsycInfo.

3) On the APA Psycinfo search page, type in anxiety for a simple keyword search, then click Search. You may also add additional keywords. For example anxiety AND "car accidents":

4) Once you have results, use the limiters to refine and narrow your search:

Use the Find It! button to see your options for obtaining the full text article:

Selecting Advanced Search when you start your initial search will provide several options for filtering your search results beforehand, as opposed to after you retrieve the results.
