BIOSIS Citation Index (BCI) covers the life sciences literature. Subjects include microbiology, zoology, biochemistry, biophysics, and medicine. BIOSIS Previews (BP) covers international meetings, review articles, books, and monographs.

The combined BCI/BP/BA  indexes over 4,400 journals.  There is about a 30% overlap between this database and MEDLINE; while MEDLINE tends to focus on clinical medicine, BCI provides more in-depth coverage of pre-clinical and experimental medicine, pharmaceutical botany, pharmacognosy, proteomics, nanotechnology, and gene therapy.

OhioLINK offers access to BCI/BP from 1969 to the present and updates the database twice a month.

The database can be accessed from the UToledo Library’s Web page. Click on All Databases, once there you can search by title by clicking on the B link OR you can search by subject by clicking the Biology link.

Remote access for off-campus is available for those who are registered with the Library; click here for more information.
