Welcome to the Animal Testing Alternative LibGuide

This guide was created to assist research scientists in fulfilling the requirements of the Animal Welfare Act (7 USC 2131-2156) in considering alternatives to animal testing before beginning a research project.
UToledo investigators are required to search the literature for alternatives and supply their findings to
the UToledo Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

This LibGuide provides information about how to search scientific and related literature to meet legal requirements. It includes information on planning a search, executing a search, and finding full text of desired articles. The guide is meant to present an overview with key resources. However, it is not exhaustive. Please do not hesitate to contact a Mulford Reference Librarian for consultation and assistance.

A special thank you to Janice Flahiff, Reference Librarian
for originally authoring this guide.
